Gloucester Cathedral – Just a 7 minute walk from The Albert Hotel.

This exquisitely beautiful structure was built as a place of prayer to God and as a place of Christian pilgrimage. I hope that you will come and visit us in person and you will see it, too, as a pilgrimage. Prayers are continuously offered, either quietly in one of the chapels, by the candle stand or by joining our daily worship. Prayers have been offered here for over thirteen hundred years, now also through this website.

Gloucester Docks – Under 10 minute walk from The Albert Hotel.

Gloucester’s Historic Docks are steeped in over 200 years of history, with fifteen Victorian warehouses standing as proud guardians to Britain’s most inland port.

“You will see, suddenly appearing, as if in a dream, long ranges of warehouses with cranes attached, endless intricacies of dock, miles of tram roads, wildernesses of timber in stacks, and huge, three-masted ships, wedged into little canals, floating with no apparent means of propulsion, and without a sail to bless themselves with.”

The National Waterways Museum -About a 15 min walk from The Albert Hotel.

We concentrate on providing fascinating ‘hands on’ displays covering a whole range of waterways related topics. Enter through a replica lock chamber, complete with running water, as exhibits, interactive computers and videos help give you a taste of what it was like to live and work on the waterways. National Waterways Museum Website

in a monastic environment. Set in the grounds of Prinknash Abbey in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, St Peter’s Grange is also open to any group for residential and day retreats.
